I first noticed Mouk in a local stationery shop in Berlin, during the Blythecon. There I saw Mouk sharing sushi with his friends in the shade of a Sakura tree. Back home I discovered that the friendly little bear was created by French Illustrator Marc Boutavant. His illustrations remind me a bit of Richard Scarry’s work. Richard drew adventurous dressed up animals and I loved his books as a child.
Recently I’ve purchased ‘Around the World with Mouk’ and although it’s a children’s book, it’s also suited for the young at heart ;). The book is surprisingly large with a nice padded cover. The shiny pages have got so much going on, that you can look at them for hours. Mouk visits different parts of the world with his friends and will teach you a thing or two about these countries. Inside the book you will find two large sheets of die-cut stickers. Honestly I don’t receive commission for this book, but it’s so worth it!
Marc Boutavant has teamed up with toy company Djeco, so if you live in Europe you can also get stickers and toys with his illustrations.
