Shinzi Katoh has been illustrating picture books since the early 70’s. He still maintains that vintage style, which I like very much. After working as chief designer for a stationery company, he designed goods incorporating ceramic, wood, melamine, glass, towel, tote bags and much more.
Fairytale themed kitchenware isn’t uncommon for Shinzi Katoh:
One of my personal favourites are the peas in a pod chopstick rests and the apple bento items.
Katoh is also known for his “Solarbear” character, which is a cute crying icebear. The book “Solarbear” tells people about the problems of global warming. Solarbear also made it into kitchenware, such as mugs, bowls and teapots, those are adorable ^^
